Hello There darlin's!
How was your long weekend!
Ours was great!
We busted out the bar-b-que, and grilled our fave steaks from Costco, and then we went to a huge pancake breakfast on Monday, and chowed, and then on Monday night we went to our local cemetery for a candlelight service to remember all those who have fought for the freedom of this land! It was beautiful.
We have a friend who was buried there, and we went and put flags, and lit a luminary in his honor at his grave. It chokes me up every time.
There were also 33 more names added to the wall from our local area. There was a star beside there name if it had been added in the last 6 months. My boys and the duke...we just stood there, and read so many names, so many lives, just gone. The ages besides them all, even more tragic. It made me so sad for all of those who have lost loved ones.
After Fric and Frac were nestled in their beds, I turned on the telly, and was shocked to see stories about Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, and Anna Nicole Smith? I was wondering why they would be showing their stories, and not the tales of the hero's, of this country. Do you think it is weird? It made me wish that people didn't obsess so much about celebrity in this country, but instead worry about what the heck is going on, and trying to do something positive to change it!
Perhaps if more people went to local cemeteries, or National Cemeteries, things would be different. But who am I? Just a crazy mom who likes to scrapbook. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it all week.
So over the past two months, so much scrappy stuff has gone on , including a Best Betty Getaway! As usual we were up to our tricks, and had some hilarity at the we hours of the night. We got lots of pages done, and ate a whole lotta food. Busted out some page kits, and a darlin' summer banner, and some fun new gifts for teachers too! Ill show ya all of it over the next few weeks!
In the mean time here is a layout i made using a
yummy Polka Dot Whimsy kit, called Simply Inspiring!
The pictures are old, but the fun remains the same! :)
The kit is filled with goodies from October afternoon, one of my all time faves!
